'Hobbit' joins human family tree
28 Oct., 2004 :: From BBC News, UK
Scientists have discovered a new and tiny species of human that lived in Indonesia at the same time our own ancestors were colonising the world. The three-foot (one-metre) tall species - dubbed "the Hobbit" - lived on Flores island until at least 12,000 years ago. The fact that little people feature in the legends of modern Flores islanders suggests we might have to take tales of Leprechauns and Yeti more seriously. 21 Oct., 2004 :: From BBC
BBC film picked the story about Keith Richards joining the POTC 2 cast:
Thanks to a persistent Johnny Depp, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is on board both sequels to Pirates Of The Caribbean. Depp famously based his Oscar-nominated portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow on the ageing rocker who will, in turn, play Sparrow's father in the forthcoming films - and not the ship's plank, as previously suspected.

Keith Richards joins POTC 2 cast
21 Oct., 2004 :: From Yahoo UK
Johnny Depp has succeeded in his attempts to get Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards on board the sequel to Pirates Of The Caribbean. Richards, the inspiration behind Depp's superb portrayal of the mercurial Captain Jack Sparrow, has agreed to play Sparrow's father in both of the hit movie's forthcoming sequels which will be shot simultaneously. We understand that Richards has already had a costume fitting in preparation for filming which is due to start at the end of February and could continue for a whopping eleven months. Richards will join all the stars who are returning for the two swashbuckling adventures including Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Crook and, (for a spoiler, highlight mouse here) ---->spookily enough, Geoffrey Rush who will be back as the evil Captain Barbossa - despite dying at the end of the first film - as well as director Gore Verbinski.
